Lesson: Sunday, June 25

God allowed the Children of Israel to be oppressed by the Philistines 40 years.  The cycle was usually--Israel serves the Lord, idol worship, oppression, repentance (cry out for deliverance), God raises up a judge, deliverance.  I can't find where the Children of Israel cried out for deliverance prior to God's announcement of the birth of Samson.  Why was this time different?

  • Fantastic Question! And now I will need to go back and study this further! My top of mind answer is this: "Because God always saved them in the past, they began to take God's eventual salvation of them for granted. After 40 years, they finally became desperate and cried out to the LORD."

    What do you think?

    Great Question!
