Learn English with This Bible Study
These English learning pages include both the Scripture text and the Bible lesson in one study. Tutors may use the lesson plan for a live or online class, and students may use the self-study page for independent practice. These lessons focus on Zacchaeus, repentance, restitution, and the joy of welcoming Jesus. We also have story-based English lessons at the Ranch School.
In The Flour on Boone, Hank learns that confession, restitution, and a changed heart matter more than hiding a mistake. That ranch story connects well with Zacchaeus, who gladly received Jesus and publicly promised to give to the poor and restore fourfold if he had defrauded anyone.
Both the Scripture lesson and the ranch story invite us to think about repentance that shows itself in honest words, generous action, and a willingness to make things right.
Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus, but Jesus was already seeking Zacchaeus. When Jesus called him by name, Zacchaeus came down quickly and received Him joyfully. A heart prepared to meet Jesus does not cling to old wrongs. It welcomes the Lord, turns from sin, and looks for ways to make things right.
