Welcome to this companion Bible study on Thomas, one of Jesus' disciples. Instead of remembering him only as "Doubting Thomas," this study follows his larger journey through the Gospel of John. Thomas showed courage when he was willing to go with Jesus toward danger, asked honest questions when he did not understand, grieved deeply after Jesus died, and finally worshiped the risen Lord with the words, "My Lord and my God!"

Thomas' Journey in This Study
John shows us more than one moment in Thomas' life. These passages help us see a faithful disciple growing through courage, questions, grief, and worship.
Courageous Thomas — "Let us also go, that we may die with him" (John 11:16).
Questioning Thomas — "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?" (John 14:5).
Grieving Thomas — After Jesus died, Thomas struggled to believe the report that Jesus had risen.
Worshiping Thomas — When Thomas saw the risen Jesus, he confessed, "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:28).

Morgan's story reminds us that God can bring new life, new hope, and a new trail after loss.
Like Thomas, Morgan must learn that the Lord's work is greater than what he first understood. Thomas' grief gave way to worship when he saw the risen Jesus. Morgan's fear and uncertainty begin to give way to trust as he sees kindness, truth, and grace through the people God places around him.
Thomas reminds us that faith is often a journey. He first showed courage by following Jesus toward danger, then asked honest questions, grieved deeply after the crucifixion, and finally worshiped the risen Lord. Jesus did not reject Thomas for asking questions or grieving deeply; He lovingly led him to a deeper faith.
Old Man Caldwell might say: "The Lord never minded an honest question asked by a man who intended to keep following the trail. It's the fellow who quits walking that never reaches the answer."
